History Week
The Royal Historical Society of Queensland took the initiative of holding the inaugural
Queensland
History Week from 30 May to 6 June 2008 to promote the study and appreciation of history in the Queensland community, particularly in the lead up to the sesquicentenary (Q150) celebrations in 2009.
Queensland is
a large, diverse state with a rich historical past, in which local
societies can celebrate a variety of events. RHSQ looks forward
to all historical societies across Queensland joining in the
celebration of History Week 2011 in their own locality with
their own programmes.
History Week 2010 commenced on Saturday 29 May with the conference
The First Queensland Parliament 1860-1863 at Parliament House.
The 2010 week concluded with the annual RHSQ Queensland Day Dinner and the awarding
of the prestigious John Douglas Kerr Medal of Distinction for
History, for research and writing of Queensland history, Saturday 5 June 2010,
the eve of 6 June, Queensland Day.
