Research
The Royal Historical Society of Queensland is well-known for its Welsby Library and our headquarters, the
Commissariat Store at 115 William Street, Brisbane is open on
Thursdays from 10 am to 4 pm and Hon Research Officers are available
to assist researchers, and at other times by arrangement. Most of the research officers are experienced
historians.
Available to Hon Researchers is the Welsby Library's incredible collection of items are of interest to those researching Queensland's
history. There are more than 4,720 books and booklets, 290 Brisbane files, 610 District files, 1,360
Family files, 1,060 Subject files, 20,600 photos, 300 maps and plans and 2,200 archive files in the collection.
The Library also holds various Queensland Parliamentary Papers,
Votes and Proceedings of the Legislative Assembly and
Queensland Government Gazettes from 1861 to 1899.
The RHSQ's Welsby Library is an excellent place to start your research
on many Queensland topics.
